LPT: Want to read faster? Download the chrome extension "Spreed". After starting to use it, I read twice as fast, going from 250 WPM to 500 WPM comfortably via /r/LifeProTips

I stumbled over it on /r/books yesterday. It functions by flashing one word at a time in the center of your screen, so you don’t have to move your eyes. It also silences your inner voice, although it feels like that will take some practice and getting used to. When you do get used to this, you’ll be able to increase the speed your read at even more. According to some people in the thread I found this at, being able to silence that inner voice can also help you read faster normally. Now, I don’t recommend this for novels or stories where pacing is important. It will feel a bit stuttery and robot-like to read with speeder, but if you’re someone like me who reads a lot of theory, it is great. I have been able to follow along at 1000WPM, and this is after using the extension for only a few minutes. This is also a godsend for people like me, who’s minds tend to wander easily while reading, or for people with ADD who have trouble paying attention while reading.

Michio Kaku speaks about streaming our consciousness onto laser beams, projecting it into the galaxy at light speed, and perhaps even into surrogate bodies that can be used to physically explore distant worlds. via /r/JoeRogan
